New E-BIKE TOURS available
Ronda is more than just a historic town perched on a gorge; it is arguably the best cycling base in Southern Spain for both leisure riders and road enthusiasts.
Surrounded by three spectacular Natural Parks, Sierra de Grazalema, Sierra de las Nieves, and Los Alcornocales, the Serranía de Ronda offers a dramatic landscape of limestone peaks, cork forests, and ancient olive groves.
Whether you are looking for a guided E-bike day trip, a self-guided cycling holiday, or a challenging road cycling tour, here is everything you need to know about cycling the White Villages of Andalusia.
The White Villages around Ronda are historic mountain towns known for their Moorish heritage and distinctive lime-washed houses. For cyclists, these villages serve as excellent milestones on a day’s ride, providing ideal spots for a break in a local plaza or a scenic detour through medieval streets.
Setenil de las Bodegas: This village is famous for being built directly into the cliffs of the Rio Trejo. You will cycle under massive rock overhangs where houses and restaurants are located inside prehistoric caves. It is a key highlight on a lot of our cycling routes.
Grazalema: Located in the heart of the Natural Park, Grazalema is often cited as one of Spain’s most beautiful towns. It is well known for its traditional wool industry and sits at the foot of the Sierra del Endrinal. The climb to reach the village is a popular challenge for road cyclists.
Zahara de la Sierra: This village sits on a steep crag topped by a 13th-century castle, overlooking a turquoise reservoir. The 12km descent from the Puerto de las Palomas mountain pass down into Zahara is one of the most scenic rides in the region.
Júzcar (The Blue Village): Originally a traditional white village, Júzcar was painted blue for a film premiere and has kept the colour ever since. Located in the chestnut forests of the Genal Valley, its shaded location makes it a great destination for summer cycling.
Ronda is situated at an altitude of 740 meters, which means it is cooler than the coastal areas of the Costa del Sol. With over 300 days of sunshine a year, it is a year-round destination, but each season offers a different experience.
Spring (March – June): This is the most popular time for cycling. The landscape is green with wildflowers, and temperatures range from 15°C in the morning to 24°C by midday. It is ideal for both road training and E-bike tours.
Autumn (September – November): As the summer heat fades, temperatures settle between 18°C and 22°C. The air is clear, making it a great time for long-distance touring and photography through the vineyards and olive groves.
Winter (December – February): Winter offers stable riding conditions with bright blue skies. While nights are cold and require layers, daytime temperatures often reach 16°C. It is a quiet time to visit the White Villages without the crowds.
Summer (July – August): Temperatures can exceed 35°C in the afternoons. During these months, we recommend an early start (often at sunrise) to finish your ride by 1:00 PM. This allows you to avoid the peak heat and spend the afternoon relaxing in the shade.
Our day excursions are designed for all types of riders. We offer a versatile fleet, including high-quality Electric Bikes (E-bikes) for a relaxed experience and Hybrid MTB/Touring bikes for those who prefer a traditional ride. This allows couples or families with different fitness levels to explore the mountains together.
Popular Day Itineraries
The Vía Verde de la Sierra (Easy): A 36km traffic-free route on a former railway line. It is mostly flat, passes through 30 tunnels and four viaducts, and is the top choice for families.
Setenil de las Bodegas (Moderate): A ride through olive groves to reach this unique "White Village," where houses are built directly into the limestone cliffs. It offers a great mix of rolling terrain and local culture.
The Vineyard & Bodega Safari: This tour takes you through high-altitude vineyards to a family-run winery. It combines a scenic ride with a professional tasting of Ronda’s award-winning wines.
Professional Support
Every day trip is fully supported. We provide a safety briefing and pre-programmed GPS navigation before you start. For our linear routes, we include a private minivan collection service, meaning you can cycle deep into the Natural Parks, and we will drive you back to Ronda, avoiding any difficult return climbs.
A "Hub & Spoke" holiday allows you to use the historic town of Ronda as your central base, eliminating the need to change hotels every day. You stay in one location and choose a different route (a "spoke") to explore each morning.
Complete Flexibility: You can "Pick & Mix" your daily rides based on your energy levels or the weather. Choose between flat vineyard trails or challenging mountain passes.
No Daily Packing: There is no luggage to move and no hotel check-outs to manage. Just arrive, unpack once, and focus on the cycling.
Ideal for Groups: This model works well for couples or groups with different fitness levels. One person can take a relaxed E-bike tour while the other tackles a mountain climb; both return to Ronda for dinner.
Full Logistical Support: We provide premium E-bikes or high-performance manual bikes, pre-programmed GPS routes, and shuttles to ensure you only cycle the best sections of the region.
Our cycling holidays are designed for riders who want to explore more of Southern Spain over several days. We offer both linear routes and circular tours through the mountain villages, managing all logistics so you can focus on the ride.

Custom Itineraries
We are not restricted by fixed dates or rigid schedules. As local experts, we can customise any trip by adding rest days, extending your stay, or adjusting daily distances to suit your group’s fitness level.
When planning a cycling adventure in a foreign country, your safety and the legal security of your booking are paramount. At White Village Tours, we pride ourselves on being one of the few local operators in Ronda that is fully licensed to provide the complete spectrum of travel services.
While many local companies operate using only a basic activity license, travellers need to understand the legal distinction between an "Activity Provider" and a "Travel Agency" in Andalusia.
The Legal Difference: AT vs. CIAN
Turismo Activo (AT/MA/00446): This is our "Active Tourism" registration. It is mandatory for any company leading guided outdoor activities such as cycling or hiking. It ensures that we carry specific civil liability insurance and that our equipment and guides meet strict safety standards set by the Junta de Andalucía.
Travel Agency License (CIAN: 298202-2): This is our more rigorous "CIAN" registration. Many local providers use an AT number to appear official, but only companies with a CIAN license are legally permitted to sell "Package Travel" (combining cycling with accommodation or transport).
Why does this matter to you? A CIAN license requires us to deposit a significant financial bond with the government, providing you with insolvency protection. If you book a multi-day holiday with an operator that only holds an AT number, your money is not legally protected in the same way, and they are breaking the law. By choosing a company that holds both registrations, you are guaranteed an experience that is both physically safe and financially secure.
The Serranía de Ronda is a premier multi-activity destination, and you don’t have to choose just one way to explore it. Many of our guests choose to enhance their cycling holiday by adding professionally guided hikes to their itinerary.
Expert Local Guides: Step off the bike and into the heart of the Sierra de Grazalema or Sierra de las Nieves with a specialist mountain guide who knows the secret trails and local biodiversity.
The 'Hub & Spoke' Advantage: Our flexible model allows you to alternate days in the saddle with days on foot, all from your central base in Ronda.
A Complete Experience: Spend one day cycling the white villages and the next trekking the dramatic limestone ridges or chestnut forests for a truly comprehensive perspective of Andalusia.
Ronda is an exceptional destination for families seeking an active, educational, and safe outdoor experience. We specialise in creating multi-activity itineraries that balance physical fun with the cultural discovery of Andalusia.
By staying in a central "Hub," families can avoid the stress of constant travel and instead focus on a "Pick & Mix" of age-appropriate adventures:
Family-Friendly Cycling: Our most popular route for all ages is the Vía Verde de la Sierra. This 36km former railway line is entirely traffic-free, mostly flat, and passes through 30 tunnels—an unforgettable experience for children and adults alike.
Guided Nature Hikes: Explore the limestone crags and hidden caves of the Natural Parks with a professional guide who can bring the local geology and wildlife to life.
Ronda is uniquely positioned at the crossroads of three provinces, offering multiple options for your arrival. At White Village Tours, we provide private, door-to-door minivan transfers from all major airports and train stations directly to your accommodation.
Málaga International Airport (AGP): 1 hour 15 mins. The primary gateway to Southern Spain, offering the highest frequency of international and transatlantic flights.
Seville Airport (SVQ): 1 hour 45 mins. A convenient option for those flying from within Europe or arriving via the AVE high-speed train from Madrid.
Jerez Airport (XRY): 1 hour 30 mins. Ideally located for those starting or ending their "Ronda to the Atlantic" cycling holiday.
Arrival by Rail.
For those already travelling within Spain, Ronda is also accessible via the scenic rail link from Algeciras or Antequera-Santa Ana (connecting to the high-speed network). We are happy to coordinate your collection from the Ronda train station as part of your holiday package.
Cycling in Ronda is more than just a physical activity; it’s a journey through history, culture, and nature. Whether you’re navigating the tranquil Vía Verde, conquering the peaks of Las Palomas, or meandering toward the enchanting village of Setenil, each route offers a unique story.

Not at all. The region offers everything from the flat, traffic-free Vía Verde de la Sierra (perfect for families and beginners) to the challenging mountain climb of Puerto de las Palomas for seasoned road cyclists. We provide a Classification Guide to help you choose a route that matches your fitness level.
Our goal is to make your adventure seamless. Most of our day trip packages include:
High-quality bicycle rental (Hybrid or E-bike options).
Safety-checked helmets and a water bottle.
Transportation to the start or from the finish line (depending on the route).
Technical support and GPS units for self-guided adventures.
Yes! E-bikes are a popular option for the Ronda area. They allow you to conquer the rolling hills and mountain passes of the Serranía de Ronda with ease, ensuring you can focus on the scenery and the "pueblos blancos" rather than the physical strain.
We prioritise your safety and enjoyment by selecting routes that use quiet back roads, gravel tracks, and dedicated cycle paths like the Vía Verde. Many of our routes to villages like Setenil de las Bodegas are designed to keep you away from main roads for almost the entire journey.
Ronda offers a great climate for year-round cycling. Spring (March–June) and Autumn (September–November) are ideal, offering mild temperatures and beautiful colors. While we operate in summer, we recommend early morning starts to avoid the midday heat.
We offer both!
Guided Tours: Led by MIAS-qualified professionals who share local history and handle all navigation.
Self-Guided: We provide the bike, the GPS, and the logistics (including luggage transfers for multi-day trips), giving you the freedom to explore at your own pace.
Absolutely. One of our most popular experiences is the Bike to Bodega Tour, which combines a scenic ride through the valley with a professional wine tasting at a local organic vineyard.
We recommend wearing comfortable sports clothing and closed-toe shoes (trainers are fine). Don't forget sunscreen and a camera! We provide the helmet, water, and all necessary bike equipment.
